Helena O'Neill was born in Co. Wexford. Her family moved to Co. Wicklow whilst in her teens, and it was there at age thirteen that she commenced her Fine Art Training with Artist and Sculpture Jean Renard Goulet. A Breton living in county Wicklow, he proved to be her teacher and greatest influence for the next ten years.
Helena went onto train as an Occupational Therapist, and completed a Masters degree in Higher Education and Research. This enabled her to travel and paint for over twenty years. Her travels took her to Australia, North America and Saudi Arabia.
She now lives and paints full-time in west Cork. Helenas' focus of interest is the effect of light, be it day or night. More recently she has become facinated with two contrasting themes, the first is the 'Urban Landscape', big city-scapes like New York, and secondly, 'Beach/ Dune scenes'.
